April- Tropical Storm Carter....aka Amanda & Steven's Wedding

In late April we went to Destin, Fl for Amanda and Steven’s wedding. We packed up the car and headed out about 10pm. We have found that it’s easier to travel at night. There is a lot less traffic and the girls sleep most of the way. We had been on the road for about 5 hours when we heard Aubrie moving around. She still had her eyes closed, but asked “Where are we going?” I said “We are going to the beach. Go back to sleep and when you wake up we will be there.” Still half asleep with her eyes still closed she asked “Did you bring my bathing suite?” Craig and I fell out laughing! It was so funny that her bathing suite was all she was worried about. That’s all you need for a trip to the beach….right!?!

We had taken the girls to FL last year. Aubrie loved the beach, but Haley….not so much! What a difference a year made. They both loved it. Even Craig admitted that he didn’t mind going to the beach as long as there was something other to do other than just laying there. We went to the beach on Thursday and Friday. We had a great time with Amanda and Steven, Craig’s family and Amanda’s family. The guys played football and frisbee, the girls played in the sand and jumped in the waves, all while us girls baked in the sun! It was PERFECT!

The water was the bluest that I had ever seen it and the sky was just as blue without any clouds for miles…until the wedding activities started that is. About an hour before rehearsal started the sky turned grey and the wind started blowing. It stormed from late Friday night until early Sunday morning. The winds were any where from 30 to 40mph. The waves were so far up on the beach that there was only about 30 ft of sand for them to have the wedding. They still got married on the beach but they moved the reception from a beach pavilion to Amanda’s parent’s suite. Yes, it wasn’t what they planned, but it was still a beautiful wedding. All that mattered in the end is that they were husband and wife!

We got home from the wedding late that night, but we decided to go ahead and clean up the house and pack the car so we could head out first thing Sunday morning. Craig cleaned out the refrigerator and had to throw away what we couldn’t fit in the cooler that we were taking home with us. He then came and helped me pack up all of our stuff. We realized that we hadn’t seen Haley for about 20 minutes. The first thing that came to my mind was that she had gone outside while we were taking stuff to the car. So we started running around looking for her. We found her on the floor in the kitchen beside the garbage can….eating the strawberries that Craig had thrown away (don’t worry they were still in the container and they were still clean!). Haley may look just like her Daddy, but when it comes form her love of strawberries…she gets that from me!
